Born in mid-December (under the Sagittarius sign), Raw Syl’s origins are legendary. Her parents, both founding members of the revolutionary band Sly & The Family Stone, have left an indelible mark on modern music and pop culture. Her mother, the late Cynthia Robinson, was the trumpet player and an integral part of the Family Stone from its inception. Meanwhile, her father, the elusive architect of funk, is none other than Mr. Sly Stone himself. Known by various names, including Phunne (pronounced as “Fun”), Raw Syl has meticulously crafted her own unique sound and style. She has graced live performances alongside Rufus, Sly Stone, and Tevin Campbell, and headlined shows with the Daughters of Funk and various solo acts across California. In her music, Raw Syl weaves beautiful melodies with a soulful, sultry voice—a fitting tribute to her funky lineage.
